Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec is a racing game, released in 2001. It was the first game in the Gran Turismo series, which was developed for PlayStation 2. The game was a commercial success and became one of the best-selling video games. It also got positive critical acclaim, becoming the third-highest rated racing video game of all time. The game has 94.54% rating on GameRankings and 95/100 on Metacritic.
The main goal of the game is to win all the races, get through license tests and reach the 100% completion of the game. When a player succeeds to complete every 25% of the game, he or she gets a new car. The races can be either short (for the beginners), multi-hour ones for endurance or rally competitions with the rivals. In order to get to the next stage, a player needs to complete all tracks on the stage on, at least, Easy difficulty. If a player manages to complete the stage on Normal or Difficult, new cars are opened. In multi-hour races, a player has a chance to win Formula One cars.
There are more than 30 race tracks available in the game, including Midfield Raceway, Smokey Mountain, Laguna Seca Raceway and various city tracks. Unlike the earlier versions of the game, Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec doesn't provide a player with the opportunity to modify the cars. The amount of cars changed as well. GT3 has only 150 cars.
