Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge is a video game, released by LucasArts in 1991. It's the second game of the Monkey Island series. Many players and critics consider the game to be the best adventure video game, created by LucasArts company, as well as the greatest one in the point-and-click genre. In 1992, it was called the best adventure game of the year by Computer Gaming World. In 2010, the remake of the game was released.
The actions of Monkey Island 2 take place in Tri-Island Area of the Caribbean several months after the events of the first part of the game. The main character of the game is pirate Guybrush Threepwood. In this part of the game, the pirate tries to find the treasure of Big Whoop. The antagonist is LeChuck, the enemy of Threepwood.
The game starts with showing Guybrush Threepwood, hanging on the rope above the abyss and telling his love interest, Elaine Marley, what preceded this situation. The later development of the game is presented as his narration about the events, which have recently happened in his life.
Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge has two difficulty levels: the regular game includes all tasks and puzlles while the Lite one is an easier variant for those, who have never played quest games. The game uses the SCUMM engine and is the first game to use the iMUSE sound system. All actions and dialogues are shown in an Animation Window while the Sentence Line, located below it, describes a player's actions.
